John O'Malley is a New Zealand photographer based in Christchurch, New Zealand. His main interest lies in landscape photography, particularly of the landforms of the high country of New Zealand's South Island.

John originally trained as a chemical engineer and after a career working in research and software development, in 2007 and 2008 he returned to study to complete Diplomas in Photographic Imaging and Professional Photography at the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT).

After completion of his study John is currently pursuing a career in photography both as an exhibiting artist and as a commercial photographer.

Clients have included Department of Conservation, Swanndri New Zealand Ltd, BWM Snow, 'The Tour' Backcountry Ski Race and New Zealand Heritage Magazine.
